Our Path to Re-Opening

Like everyone, we are continuing to monitor the ever-changing and developing conditions around COVID-19 in our county.  While we have resumed very limited in-person gatherings, we are continuing to worship each week via live-stream only.  In preparation and anticipation of a phased re-opening we have developed protocols to guide us in our in-person gatherings. Please take a moment to read over our re-opening plan so that you know what to expect before you come.

Worship Services. We will be practicing the social distancing protocol as required by Contra Costa Heath Services. A copy of this plan is posted at the entrance to the building. We will do our best to ensure the safety of our congregation.

A.  Illness.  If you or someone in your family has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, is sick, or has been sick in thepast week, please stay home. This is a great way to show your love for your neighbor. We know everyone wants toget back to worship, but we need to exercise caution.

B.  Compromised Groups.  Since COVID-19 affects certain groups more negatively than others, we encourage thefollowing groups of people to consider staying home.

  • Senior members of our church

  • Those who care for immune-compromised people or seniors.

  • Anyone who feels uncomfortable being in a large gathering of people.

C. Before Coming to Worship

  • Wash your hands.

  • Masks – It is required that everyone ages two and up will be wearing a mask during the entire time they are on campus. We believe it is a way that each of us can show love to the members of our congregation.  Ifyou don’t feel comfortable complying with this requirement, then we ask that you please stay home untilmask are no longer required.  If you don’t have a mask, we will have some available as you enter, but you are encouraged to provide your own mask.

  • Bathrooms – Please make every effort to use the bathroom at home, so as to avoid using the bathrooms at church.  But rest assured, the church bathrooms will be available, if needed.

D. Entering the Church – We will maintain one entrance door.  Therefore, there may be a line waiting to enter the building, please allow six foot spacing between families and be patient as people wait to be seated.

  • Social Distancing – Outside of your household, participants are strongly encouraged to maintain six-foot social distancing from each other. Anyone older than 2 years old must wear a mask while on campus.

  • Greeters – We will have greeters to assist your entry and perform temperature checks.  Anyone with a temperature at or above 100.4 degrees will not be permitted to worship in person at FCF.

  • Hand Sanitizer – There will be hand sanitizer stations as soon as you enter the building.

  • Contact Tracing Protocols – County and state health officials have strongly urged businesses and churches to maintain attendance records for a minimum of 14 days, for thorough contact tracing in the event of possible exposure to COVID-19 at a worship service.    While this is not required, it is strongly encouraged. Visitors will be encouraged to provide contact information.  In the event of possible COVID-19 exposure, the entire Faith Christian Fellowship community will be notified via the contact information we have on file, regardless of attendance.

E.  Logistics While in the Building

  • Seating at Worship – Please sit in the marked areas.  Pews will be disinfected prior to the service.

  • Offering – We will have collection baskets by the exit door of the sanctuary to place your offering in as you leave.

  • Communion – Pre-packaged elements will used for celebrating communion.

  • Surfaces – Studies have shown that it is highly unlikely that COVID-19 can be contracted through surface contact.  However, out of an abundance of caution, we will take steps to limit your contact with common surfaces and objects. Doors will be propped opened. Hymnals and Bibles will be removed from the sanctuary. Please bring your own Bible.

  • Bathrooms – Please use the bathrooms only when absolutely necessary.  If your children do need to use the bathroom, please assist them. The bathrooms will be open, but we can limit the possible spread of the virus if as few people as possible use them.  Disinfectants will be available in right outside the bathrooms for your use.

  • Drinking Fountains – Will be turned off. You are welcome to bring a bottle of water into church if you thinkyou will need it.

  • Nursery – The nursery will not be open for use.

  • Children’s Worship – Children’s worship will be suspended until further notice.

  • Safety Team - For your safety, this team will address any issues that may arise. Please don’t engage in behaviors that might cause a confrontation. We ask that you consider how your actions will affect or beinterpreted by others at church and when in doubt, show love.

F. Exiting the Building

Please exit as directed by the pastor or others.  The doors will be propped open at the end of the service in order to avoid contact with handles. After the service, all socializing must occur outside, maintaining proper distance guidelines.  Pleasebe aware of your children after the service to make sure they do not go back into the sanctuary.  All socializing must occur outside while maintaining social distancing requirements.
